Most search products stop at retrieval. They help you find a record.
We think local search should go further. It should help you understand whether something is relevant to where you are, what you want, and what tradeoffs matter.
Local search needs context
Two places can look similar on paper and feel completely different in reality.
That is why local search needs more than a title, a price, and a map pin. It needs context:
- what is nearby,
- what people are saying,
- how the area behaves,
- and what matters for a specific user intent.
Discovery should feel more direct
A lot of local search journeys are slowed down by unnecessary intermediaries and poor-quality information.
We want discovery to feel more direct and more transparent. The ideal experience is not just “I found a result.” It is “I found something relevant, and I understand why it matters.”
Where we are headed
For LoqalGems, local search is a combination of:
- structured listing information,
- place-aware community signals,
- direct communication,
- and clearer presentation of nearby opportunities.
That is the direction we are building toward, and this blog will document more of that thinking over time.
