Child Safety Standards

LoqalGems has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. This page explains what we prohibit, how to report it, and how we respond.

Effective 13 August 2026

1. Our commitment

LoqalGems prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in every part of the service. This includes profiles, property listings, posts, comments, photos, videos, direct messages, usernames, links, and conversations with our AI assistant.

This standard applies to everyone who uses LoqalGems, and it applies regardless of intent, framing, or claimed purpose. There is no context in which this content or conduct is permitted on our platform. These standards operate alongside our Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.

In these standards, a minor means any person under the age of 18, regardless of the age of majority or age of consent that applies where they live.

2. LoqalGems is an adults-only service

You must be at least 18 years old to create a LoqalGems account or use the service. We ask for confirmation of adult eligibility at registration and enforce this on our servers, and we ask existing account holders to confirm it as well. The app is not directed to children and we do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to hold an account.

If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it. If you believe a minor is using LoqalGems, report the account using the steps below or email us so we can act.

3. What is prohibited

The following are prohibited on LoqalGems. This list describes the conduct we act on; it is not a limit on the action we may take.

Child sexual abuse material

Any image, video, drawing, or other depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, or of a minor’s body presented for sexual gratification. This is prohibited without exception, including material that is fictional, generated, or edited.

Sexualisation of minors

Sexual or suggestive commentary about a minor, sexualised depictions of a minor, or presenting a minor as an object of sexual interest, whether or not the content is explicit.

Grooming and solicitation

Contacting or attempting to contact a minor for sexual purposes, building trust with a minor to enable abuse, requesting sexual content from a minor, or arranging to meet a minor for sexual activity.

Sextortion

Threatening to publish intimate content of a minor, or using such content to coerce a minor into producing further content, money, or any other benefit.

Trafficking and facilitation

Advertising, recruiting, arranging, or otherwise facilitating the sexual exploitation of a minor, including offering or seeking access to a minor for sexual purposes.

Distribution and promotion

Sharing, linking to, requesting, advertising, or signposting where child sexual abuse material can be found, on LoqalGems or anywhere else.

4. How to report child sexual abuse or exploitation

You do not need a LoqalGems account to report this to us, and you do not need to be the person affected.

  • In the app: open the options menu on the post, comment, profile, or message and choose Report. Choose the reason that best matches, and add any detail that will help us find the content.
  • By email: write to info@loqalgems.com with the username, post, listing, or message involved and a short description.
  • Through our website: use the Contact page.

Please do not download, save, re-share, or attach suspected child sexual abuse material in order to report it. Send us a link or a description of where it appears and we will retrieve it.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In Kenya you can also reach Childline Kenya free of charge on 116, or the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on 999 or 112.

5. How we respond

Reports of child sexual abuse and exploitation are treated as our highest moderation priority and are reviewed by a trained member of our team. We aim to act as quickly as possible and ahead of other report types.

  • We remove the content from LoqalGems.
  • We terminate the account involved, and we act against any related accounts we identify.
  • We preserve the content, account records, and associated data as needed for referral to the authorities and for any resulting investigation.
  • We refer apparent child sexual abuse material and credible threats to a minor to the competent authorities, which may include the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Kenya and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and we cooperate with lawful requests arising from those referrals.
  • We may act on the account without prior warning, and we may withhold the detail of our review where telling the account holder would risk evidence, an investigation, or a child’s safety.

Reports are handled confidentially so far as is reasonably possible. We may preserve or disclose information where it is necessary for child safety, to comply with the law, or to respond to a lawful request. Attempting to evade an enforcement action, including by creating another account, leads to further action.

6. How we reduce the risk

  • We restrict LoqalGems to adults and enforce that at registration.
  • We publish Community Guidelines that prohibit sexual exploitation and content that endangers children.
  • We provide reporting controls on posts, comments, profiles, direct messages, and AI assistant responses, and blocking controls so people can stop unwanted contact.
  • We operate a moderation queue with a defined enforcement workflow, and we route child safety reports to the front of it.
  • We keep records of enforcement so repeat behaviour and related accounts can be identified.

7. Legal compliance

We comply with applicable child safety laws in the markets we serve, including the Children Act, 2022 and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018 in Kenya, and we respond to lawful requests from competent authorities and courts.

Nothing on this page limits any obligation we have under applicable law, and we may take any further action the law requires.

8. Updates

We may update these standards as LoqalGems and applicable requirements change. We will publish the updated version here and revise the effective date.
